Four Big Island Hawaii Attractions You Cannot Miss
|
If you are currently in the process of planning an island trip, the tropical paradise of Hawaii offers one of the most unique and captivating destinations in the entire world. The sheer size of the island, its exotic Polynesian culture, and its wide range of attractions make it an ideal choice for your next island excursion. From traditional Hawaiian rituals and ceremonies and nature hikes to a resort-themed nightlife, the Hawaiian Islands have something to offer everyone.
Once you have made reservations for your trip to Hawaii, it is important to research which attractions and excursions you'll want to visit before travelling. Creating a comprehensive itinerary will allow you to research each and every attraction and focus your trip in the manner that you wish. While some visitors to Hawaii seek a tranquil getaway that includes lazy days on the beach, relaxed meals, and meandering treks through the Hawaiian landscape, others seek a fast-paced, adventure-oriented vacation, which may include surfing Hawaii's massive waves or partying until dawn. Either way, an itinerary will allow you to plan and focus your trip the way you imagine it. The following are a few specific attractions that should be considered when putting together your customized itinerary:

1. Hawaii Volcanoes National Park
Few places in the world feature such a large concentration of active volcanoes than the Hawaiian isles. At the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, you'll be able to traverse the summit of the Kilauea volcano, experience the famed Chain of Craters road where lava once flowed in abundance, and take part in guided wilderness tours, all amidst the 377 square miles of this protected national park. To be sure, there is no other National park in the United States quite like it.

4. Puuhonua O Honaunau National Historic Park
While the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park might be a bit intense for some vacationers, the Puuhonua O Honaunau National Historic Park is a must-see attraction while visiting the Hawaiian Islands. Located on 180 acres of land, the Park encompasses all of the elements of the Hawaiian experience: vast expanses of lava rock, sacred temples and wooden statues on ancient Hawaiian gods, picaresque gardens, Asian-style fish ponds, and other natural wonders.
