POLOLU VALLEY LOOKOUT

The Pololu Valley is the most westward of the many valleys on the north side of the Big Island ending with Waipio Valley. This area is very rugged and pristine terrain.  The lack of access as well as the  threat of tsunamis hitting this area have kept developers away so the area remains largely virgin.

Flat stones taken from this valley during the time of King Kamehameha were used to build many of the temples in this part of the Island. Unlike Waipio, there is no road going down into the Pololu Valley so the only access to this gorgeous valley is via hiking. This is definitely a “must see” even if you only go to the lookout area to drink in the dramatic, eye-popping beauty of this area.
