One very special treat on the Big Island is the black sand beach located on the southern part of the island just west of the Hawaii state route 11 Volcanoes National Park entrance. This is a wonderfully beautiful place and is easy to get access from the main highway. Remember that by law you cannot remove sand from this beach. Since the late 1980's this is the best black sand beach on the Big Island. Unfortunately, only other beach that was better is now under 75 feet of lava. |
