Kilohana Plantation

A fun place to visit, particularly for families is the Kilohana Plantation. This wonderful 1930’s era sugar plantation is still a working farm. You can enjoy a 40 minute narrated tour on a narrow gauge railroad that travels through the plantation on a 3 mile track, sample tropical plants and see farm animals in the field and in a petting area. Enjoy a picnic lunch and sample tropical fruits grown on the plantation grounds as you tour the plantation.

After your train ride around the plantation enjoy lunch at Gaylord’s restaurant located in the old 7 bedroom English Tudor Mansion home of the Wilcox family, who owned and operated the Plantation during the 1930’s. Stroll through several restored houses and shops to get a feel for what life was like in the heyday of the sugar industry in the islands. Koloa Rum is made on the grounds of the plantation and a rum tasting room for the adults of the family is also available on the plantation grounds

On Tuesday and Friday Evenings, enjoy a unique theatrical presentation in the round called the Lu’au Kalamaku. This is a unique Lu’au that dramatically presents the story of the journey of an ancient Tahitian family in dance and song and their journey across the pacific to settle in the Hawaiian Islands. This Lu’au is one that you will long remember for its unique and unforgettable storyline.
