Ka’anapali Beach is home to some of the most wonderful resorts on the island. This section of coastline is the sandy stretch of beach extending from Black Rock south to Canoe Beach. With a concrete running path stretching from the Sheraton to the Hyatt, this beach is a great place to jog or take a leisurely sunset stroll. Wonderful restaurants and local hot spots dot the shore in this area of the beach. You can also spend some enjoyable time shopping at Whalers Village. |

For swimming, the north end of the beach is the best part of the beach extending from Ka’anapali Ali’I Resort to Black Rock. The southern end of the beach is has a sharp reef so beach shoes here are definitely in order if you intend to swim in this area. At Hanaka’o’o/Canoe Beach, you can find all types of water fun such as jet skis, boogie boarding, people watching, canoes and swimming. Kapalua Beach is usually good for swimming since it is a protected bay but be sure to bring beach shoes as lava rocks dot the area both in and out of the water. Another fairly calm swimming beach is Napili Beach. The beach is usually very crowed and can be rough at high tide but the warm, soft sand is plentiful and welcoming. |

For more adventurous types, there is snorkeling and surfing available on this part of the island. Snorkeling near Black rock is excellent but there can be strong currents in this location from time to time so don’t stray too near the lava rock. Turtles can sometimes be spotted in this area so be sure to keep an eye out for them. If you want to practice surfing, Launiupoko Park can be a good place to go as the waves tend to be long-lived at this beach. Picnic tables and Barbecue facilities are also available at this park so you can also have lunch here while you swim. |
